So excited to be part of WAMSOC's first exhibit...WAMSOC stands for the Women's Art Museum Society of Canada, but WAMSOC is such a cool word!
My website is at http://www.grovecanada.ca , but since somebody linked WAMSOC's exhibit for me to here I am going to put up some fresh content, until I get the link changed...
My friends the Trumpeter swans who I feed wild bird seed from November to April...(you are welcome to too!)
Turn up your sound to hear why the Trumpeter Swans are called Trumpeters...(Note: if you feed them tons of wild bird seed, then wait, they will give you a trumpeter concerto as a thank you...This was after a lunch...)(I took the video with a tiny digital camera from behind my car-they don't like cameras, so I am judicious about how I use it if I do...rarely)...
here is prototype number 8 of the Trumpeter swan nest...(as it happens I am rethinking my use of the pricier rope here...Turns out my bengal cats like the much much cheaper Sisal (manila) rope better...Our bengals are our ECO sounding board for decisions...I think the more expensive rope doesn't smell nesty...So this is more of an "art" nest...But the Sisal rope nests biodegrade rather quickly, so...More thinking to be done...May revert to an all calcium carbonate sand nest with wood pieces around it...SIGH...
Below is a Fotobabble about how to make an armature for ferrocement without welding!!! (sort of my invention, with help from an OCADU grad from 1959 who now works at Home Depot at Laird & Eglinton in Toronto...(he uses steel pipe, but I like copper better...)
Press the grey arrow button on the left to hear the Fotobabble audio...
(press grey arrow button to listen to song) Listen to my Valentine's day song...(I've been very bird brained lately...There is just something so special about hand feeding wild bird seed to a Trumpeter swan in winter... I've been going into the water a bit so that they don't have to walk on land to eat...recently they have let me pat them...OH!) Best winter activity ever!!!
What I am working on now...See explanations & more details at Flickr.com/sarigrove
About Sari: I am a very happy person, just always have been...I love my husband & I think he is really gorgeous...I have cool bengal lady cats & they still are intact which makes them tons of fun...I love doing athletic things, especially in cold weather, which makes me feel so alive...I love my family & really enjoyed my childhood...So...Do you hate me yet? Ok, if it makes you feel better, I have giant flaws too & have been through some character building times...I'm one of those optimistic people who will see the bright side of anything even if there is no bright side...I am your best friend...If you cross me though, be careful- I tend to feel that since I try so hard to be nice that if you try to cheat me that you are messing with Mother Nature or something big, whatever the metaphor...So I make a terrible terrible enemy...I like to be the Alpha in a crowd & will assert that quickly...As long as everybody knows that I have to be on top, it all works out...(most of this is tongue in cheek by the way)...I bounce back easy & things slide off of me like water off a duck...I love love love feeding hand feeding, Trumpeter swans from November to April & that is where you will find me...It is the best thing to do in winter- almost better for me than for the swans...I have a giant ego & can bruise...I am not poor, but sometimes you might think that since I like to work too hard...This 2012 I am working on medicine in art...
Houseboats, floating homes, at Bluffers Park...( we are thinking of buying one...)
